Alif2.fr: Coins of the Almoravid (Murabitid) dynasty
(445-543 A.H. / 1053-1148 A.D.)
The Almoravid movement was a religious ideology initially based in Mauritania and southern Morocco and developped by the Sanhaja leader Yahya ibn Ibrahim (Buresi, 2014) after his return from the pilgrimage to Mecca. This ideology have spread from Mauritania and South Morocco to the north of Morocco, Spain and Algeria.
The Almoravid dynasty ruled in north Africa and Spain from 445 A.H. (1053 A.D.) to 543 A.H. (1148 A.D.). They recognized the Abbasid Caliphate (see (Ibrahim)) and they never claimed for the Caliphate. The Almoravids have been replaced by another dynasty, reformer of the religion, that of the Almohads.

Abu Bakr ben `Umar (448-453 A.H./ 1087-1061 A.D.)
#1.14.3.2 Abu Bakr ben `Umar Half Dinar (2.37g 16mm) No mint, no date Eustac. p. 54, Hazard 52 (corrected), Br. 818, 818bis, Album 461.1 This dinar is similar to the crude dinars struck by the Kazhrunids, a minor dynasty from Sijilmasa. In 445 A.H. (1053 A.D.), the Almoravids conquered Sijilmasa ((Abun-Nasar) p. 81) and such dinars (Kazhrunid type) in the name of Abu Bakr were struck from 445 A.H. (1053 A.D.) to 450 A.H. (1058 A.D.). In 450 A.H., this dinar type has been replaced by the new standard for Almoravids dinars (Album p. 79). The next coin (#1.14.3.3) is an example of that new standard. Ibrahim ben Abi Bakr, governor of Sijilmasa (465-469 A.H. / 1071-1077 A.D.)
Ibrahim ben Abi Bakr was Abu Bakr's son and he was appointed governor of Sijilmasa by Yusuf ben Tashfin.
He overstepped his authority and has issued coins in his own name ((Messier) pp. 62-63).
